How Mediation Works
How Mediation Works
Getting Started
To get started, one or both parties can contact A1 Mediation for a free phone consultation. If only one side has reached out, we will contact the other party to discuss the benefits of mediation and bring them on board.
Mediator Selection
Our team will guide you in selecting the most appropriate mediator for your particular case. We have 160 mediators with extensive experience resolving a variety of cases. We will help you find the best mediator for your needs.
Joint Session
The mediation process begins with a session that includes both parties. During this session, the mediator explains the process and each side can present their thoughts, concerns, and goals for the case.
Private Caucuses
After the initial joint meeting, the mediator will meet with each party individually in sessions called caucuses. During their private caucus, each party is able to openly and confidentially express their concerns and preferences.
Negotiation
The mediator aids each side in finding the best possible solution. The parties can meet in person during this phase or the mediator can pass solutions and suggestions back and forth.
Settlement or Impasse
The mediation process begins with a session that includes both parties. During this session, the mediator explains the process and each side can present their thoughts, concerns, and goals for the case.
